From being The Runaways’ frontwoman to being an actress, author, and chainsaw artist, Cherie Currie is surely everything but boring. Her life is full of exciting things, and she is always on the move.

Despite this dynamic lifestyle, one thing remains the same: she is still a big dog lover, especially with the rescue ones. Cherie said that when you look into a dog’s eyes, magic is there.

A dog lover since ever since she was a child

Cherie lived her childhood in the idyllic region of Southern California. And it was her family who taught her to be an animal lover. The family would always adopt pets or took in homeless animals that showed up; these included not only dogs but also cats and birds.

When Cherie was 19, her boyfriend gave her a Golden Retriever named Norton. They also adopted another golden and called him Golden.

Cherie later married actor Robert Hays (now divorced). When Jake, their son, was about one year old, they got a dog named Sadie. Jake, on the other hand, managed to become an animal lover himself. According to Cherie, Jake would light up a room when there was a pet in it.

A dog lover through and through

About more than a decade ago, when shooting for the Runaways movie began, Cherie found Kaylee at a high-kill shelter and adopted her. Kaylee looked identical to one of her first dogs named Katie.

Years later, Cherie planned to adopt a friend for Kaylee. So she visited the Pet Adoption Fund, where she found Layla.

For Cherie, dogs are like angels, and they bring so much to her life. She said that dogs make people better individuals. She added that dogs are heroes and that they are selfless.

When it comes to rescuing, Cherie said it was the only way to go. She would never have thought of another way to get a dog.
