The chances of old dogs inside an animal shelter getting adopted are meager. The reason for this is that most dog adopters often prefer younger dogs. For them, older dogs have more needs, so they would instead adopt a more youthful pooch. This mentality, though, is misplaced and is not true among all dog adopters.

Beth and Michael Clark are one of the few people who treat senior dogs as unique dogs. For the couple, while older dogs are living their twilight years, the same could still bring so much happiness to their families.

This is why Beth and Michael decided to adopt this dog named Rocky. When Rocky got adopted from Friends of Anne Arundel County Animal Care & Control, he was already 17 years old. It was Beth who took pity on the pooch.

According to Beth, it was her who suggested to her husband to adopt the pooch. Beth said she could not stomach seeing the pooch live his remaining years at the shelter. This is why they adopted the pooch for good. During the dog’s adoption, Beth was pregnant with her first child.

While Beth knows that Rocky is already counting his remaining days, she told the pooch to wait for his baby sister’s birth. Beth believes that Rocky understands what her wish is and that the dog would fulfill it.

Beth and Michael are no longer stranger that the dog’s health is already deteriorating. The reason for this is that the dog goes back and forth from the vet to get treated. But the pooch held on until Beth gave birth to Joline. Upon seeing his baby sister, the dog sniffed the baby and licked her happily. On the night of Joline’s birth, the dog also breathed her last, but Beth is thankful because the pooch fulfilled her wish.
