Cameron Rupp of the Philadelphia Phillies is known to be a devout supporter of animal rights. He is very active in participating in various events to promote and improve the plight of the animals in his state especially during the off-season.

During one of his community service work at Pennsylvania SPCA, Cameron met a two-year-old Cane Corso who is looking for a forever home. The dog was hog-tied when he was rescued outside the Pennsylvania SPCA’s headquarters in North Pennsylvania. She was also terrified of people, that was why it was hard for the shelter staff to find her a home. Moreover, the dog’s size may be intimidating for future adopters.

The dog was first introduced to Cameron via a photo sent to him. He went to see the dog three times before he decided to bring her home. He named the dog Lola.

Cameron fell in love with Lola because of her sweet personality. Moreover, Lola was able to immediately overcome her harrowing past. Cameron had another dog named Chief, and Lola didn’t have a hard time getting along with him.

Cameron helped Pennsylvania SPCA to raise $30,000 to be used in the organization’s activities and animal care. Pennsylvania SPCA was very active in protecting the animals across the state. Its mission is to protect the animals, improve the quality of life and health of animals, and prevent cruelty.

Cameron also sponsored four dogs (Savannah, Baby, Washington, and Hailey) from Pennsylvania SPCA so that they would be able to find their forever homes.

Cameron was chosen as the nominee of his team for the 2017 Roberto Clemente Award for his community work with animals. The Roberto Clemente Award is a distinction given to an MLB player for his valuable and exemplary work in the game of baseball, sportsmanship, and community involvement.

Cameron wishes that he can do more to improve the plight of the animals in Pennsylvania but he strongly believes that this will be the start of bigger things to happen in the future.

Way to go, Cameron! Continue to do good deeds to the animals in your home state!
