Charlie, the Great Dane, first arrived at the Rancho Coastal Humane Society after his previous owner died. He’s a calm and loving dog, but unfortunately, adopters kept ignoring him.
He spent over eight months at the shelter, so a local news station started spreading his story, hoping someone would adopt him. This news story caught the attention of Tim Yanitor, someone who knew Charlie before his owner died.

Tim then ended up adopting Charlie in a heartwarming turn of events. This also introduced Charlie to his new best friend, Tank, the tortoise.

Charlie’s adoption story

Tim was the caretaker of Charlie’s previous owner. Tim wanted to adopt Charlie right then and there when this person died. Unfortunately, Tim didn’t have the resources to take of Charlie then, so Charlie had to go to the shelter. After many months, Tim has a job taking care of Lisa so he can finally adopt Charlie.
Lisa once had a giant mastiff, just like Charlie. Unfortunately, this mastiff died recently. When Lisa heard that Charlie was up for adoption, she jumped at the chance together with Tim. Now that Charlie is with them, they’re a happy little family.

Charlie meets his new best friend Tank

There’s another twist to this story, as well. Charlie’s previous owner once raised tortoises. Charlie loves hanging out with these slow and patient reptiles. Before adopting Charlie, Tim got a tortoise named Tank for himself.

Charlie reunited with Tim and has a tortoise best friend again, just like his previous owner. According to Tim, adopting Charlie felt like fate. He could see his beloved dog again, Lisa could have a big dog friend, and Charlie could play with a tortoise again.

Here’s a video showing Charlie and Tank the tortoise hanging out.
