Aisha Nieves is one of the many pet owners in the country who had to suffer dealing with a missing pet. Two years after she lost her beloved Kovu, a Pitbull- Rotweiller mix, she decided she was ready to be a fur parent again. Aisha started looking through adoption pages online and spotted a special dog posted on the Lehigh County Humane Society site.
She encountered a familiar face as she studied each photo of the shelter’s adoptable dogs. At first, Aisha thought it was impossible – but she saw her dog’s unique facial features. Kovu has a notable scar over his left eye, which he got from a minor accident. Aisha could not believe her eyes! After two years, she finally found her dog!

Aisha adopted the Pitbull-Rotweiller mix when he was just a seven-week-old puppy, and they have been inseparable since. Aisha loved Kovu so much that her heart was crushed when she lost him in 2019. A car damaged their home fence, setting Kovu loose. She and her family did everything to find him, to no avail.
Unknown to Aisha, the Lehigh Valley Humane Society picked up Kovu off the streets of the north part of Allentown, Pennsylvania. However, since Kovu was not microchipped and wore no collar for identification, the workers could not find his owner. According to the shelter director, Deirdre Snyder, the dog they named Ash was eventually adopted. But after two years, he was returned to the center because his new owners faced eviction and could no longer take care of him.

Lehigh Valley Humane Society decided to put Ash up for another adoption. Coincidentally, his owner, Aisha, has been searching for a new dog to adopt. Looking through the adoptable dogs, she came across her beloved Kovu, now named “Ash.”
Aisha could not believe her luck! She immediately contacted Lehigh Valley Humane Society and told them she would pick up her dog, which she lost two years ago. She cried happy tears as she reunited with her beloved Kovu. Afraid she’d lose him again, she finally had him microchipped. She said she is thankful for the second chance with Kovu and would do everything to protect her beloved fur baby!
