When neighbors realized a momma dog and her two puppies, a boy and a girl, had been wandering the streets for the last couple of days, they were puzzled. They didn’t think the animals belonged to anybody so they followed them. To their surprise, the dogs walked into the courtyard of an empty house.
The gate was locked and the only way the dogs got inside was through the small gap between the gate and the concrete ground. That’s how they went out too whenever they needed to search for food. But whether they lived there in the past and were just abandoned by the property owner who haven’t really shown up for quite a while, no one knew.
A lot of the residents felt worried about their own safety knowing there were stray dogs in their community. Two kind women, however, thought otherwise. They knew the pups were harmless so they decided to help.
Now and then, the ladies visited the dogs and called them out to feed them. They also wanted to make sure they were in great health but they could never get close enough to any of the animals. And so, they just did the best that they could and kept the family out of trouble.
Eventually, the women agreed it was no longer safe for the dogs to stay in the courtyard. It didn’t matter anymore if they really lived there. After all, no one has seen any person in the house so there’s no one to take care of them while they were there.
The ladies made contact with several rescue groups and Olena, the founder and head rescuer of Love Furry Friends Animal Rescue, agreed to take the dogs. She met with them and they laid out a plan to bring the dogs to safety. And while it was pretty easy for them to catch the little boy, they had to exert more effort catching his sister and his mom.
Terrified, the momma walked away and took her little girl to someone’s yard. The ladies followed them but they ran in two different directions. It took hours before they were caught, but in the end, they were safe.
Momma Alice, Tony, and Lyalya continued to the shelter after they received medical care. They stayed with their rescuer friends for a short while until it was time for them to leave and join their new forever families.
