Fezco, believed to be around four years old, recently went viral on the Internet after he was abandoned by his owners at the Stanly County Animal Protective Services in North Carolina. And the reason behind his abandonment was actually quite controversial as his previous owners thought he was gay.

As the story went on, Fezco was seen by his previous owners dominating another male dog in a sexual manner. This then led them to the idea that he was gay and the next thing Fezco knew, he was being dropped off at the shelter. After that, a lot of people sent messages of support to Fezco and everybody wished for him to find a family who would love him wholeheartedly.

But according to veterinarian Tahl Rozycki, the observed behavior could be attributed to a high testosterone level that drives the dog to breed. And it could also be possibly that Fezco was just trying to assert his dominance over the other dog. This is considered normal behavior for dogs who live in a multi-dog environment as they establish their pecking order.

Thankfully, Fezco’s days of waiting are now finally over. After getting transferred to the Greater Charlotte SPCA, an autonomous, non-profit organization that serves homeless animals, a previous adopter stepped up.

An openly gay couple, Steve Nichols and his partner John, who lives in Charlotte decided to give Fezco a home. The couple who have actually spent more than 30 years together felt that being gay was such a silly reason to give up a dog. Additionally, they thought that it was just so fitting for a gay dog to be adopted by a very loving gay family.

The couple then renamed him, Oscar, after the popular gay writer Oscar Wilde. And now, Oscar gets to be in a home where he will be loved and loved so much.
