A property owner in Louisiana called Villalobos Rescue Center and told them about a pit bull that was left alone by a man that was squatting on their land. The dog was in terrible shape. He had flea dermatitis, and his rear side was all scratched up with no more fur left. The poor pooch was also all skin and bones.
Tia and Perry, both experienced rescuers from the nonprofit animal charity group mentioned above, quickly boarded their van and went to the location. They scoured the open lot, looking for the abandoned pup. Inside the property, filled with overgrown vegetation, was the dog owner’s trailer. After a while, they found the chained dog next to a tree and a poorly made dog house.
Happy to see them
As soon as the pit bull saw the two rescuers, he started wagging his tail. It seemed that the pooch knew that they were there to help him. Tia reached out to pet the dog’s head, and he started licking her hands. The pit bull was very friendly, despite living in such poor conditions.
Not only did he not have access to fresh water, he only had a dirty bowl of rainwater, but he also had a very limited range of movement. It seemed that the dog was not fed enough and didn’t have a constant companion. The pit bull needed to be taken away, so Tia quickly unhooked him from his line and put a new leash on him.
Angry neighbor
Just as they had led the dog inside their van, a man living next door started shouting at them. The neighbor angrily said that someone owned the dog. When they asked him where the owner was and how long until he returned, the guy said that the owner was on vacation and he didn’t know when he would be back.
The rescuers stood their ground and said that the dog needed help. He could just let the dog’s owner know where he could see his dog whenever he returned. Thankfully, the confrontation de-escalated, and the rescuers took the abandoned pooch with them. Hopefully, the owner realizes his mistake and makes the right decisions for his pet.
