Murray, an abandoned puppy, may not appear as normal as other dogs due to his appearance, yet his endearing qualities and individuality won people’s hearts.

The dog has discovered happiness and is now living with his beloved family. But before all the ups, he endured life’s tragic and difficult challenges.

Murray was born in Puerto Rico. One day, he found himself on Dead Dog Beach. There, he developed distemper and a dreadful infection, resulting in his unusual appearance. Some may be unfamiliar with the term distemper, but it is a virus that kills animals that are exposed to it. Both the respiratory and neurological systems are destroyed.

Dead Dog Beach is the location where Murray was left for dead. It is a beach on the southeastern coast of Puerto Rico where, each year, hundreds of various animals are left for dead.

Murray, who was on the verge of death, miraculously survived. However, the incident left him with a malformed head and no teeth (which is the primary reason why he cannot keep his tongue inside his mouth). The virus affected his appearance, yet it never prevented him from being kind, affectionate, and considerate.

The Sato Project, a rescue group, saved him from such agony. They rescued Murray and eventually brought him to the United States so that he could have his own family. But Murray had difficulty getting adopted because of his appearance.

A veterinarian arranged Murray’s euthanasia at one time. As Murray’s tail wagged before the lethal injection, the vet felt as though he was being told that Murray does not deserve such a penalty.

Murray encountered the Gallant family at that time. The Gallant family brought the dog to their residence in Massachusetts. They were the foster parents, but they eventually adopted him since they couldn’t just let him go.

It was at this turning point that they decided to launch an Instagram account that would help The Sato Project while also raising awareness for rescue dogs like Murray.

Murray had a profound effect on the globe and brought about significant change. The Gallants would not be able to develop an Instagram account that would reach and inform thousands of people about rescue dogs, The Sato Project, and the fatal Distemper virus if not for him.
