Dogs are extraordinarily talented and skilled creatures. They can be trained to perform a variety of jobs, including being service dogs, and police dogs among many others.

Unfortunately, Daysi, a military dog, has been diagnosed with cancer. To save her from experiencing unavoidable pain, her life must be put to an end. That solution must have been heartbreaking, especially for those who have worked with her. But her handler had no choice since this was for the dog’s good.

Daysi was a devoted and exceptionally clever K-9 in the US Army’s 802nd Security Squadron, where he served alongside the best personnel. Her crew is aware of Daysi’s commitment to her career. Thus, despite their sorrow, Daysi’s team and friends agreed they must do something for the courageous girl’s final farewell.

Watch the heartbreaking video below to see Daysi’s friend and teammates bid farewell to their wonderful, courageous teammate.

Military dogs can build wonderful bonds with their handlers just like any other dog. The link is uniquely strengthened while both are already fighting on the front lines, and it frequently endures after military service ends.

From the very beginning, dogs and their handlers work closely together during training, deployment, and rehabilitation. This alone can create a bond so strong that nothing can separate them. Both species depend on one another for survival. Humans depend on the amazing senses of dogs, while dogs depend on their human’s efforts.

The purpose of military dogs is to monitor borders and territories, identify contraband, and track down the enemy. But, they go beyond this. The majority of dogs served their handlers as therapy dogs — not necessarily in an assistance-dog capacity, but rather as a confidant and close friend.

You will certainly be missed, Daysi. Your life of heroism will be remembered constantly and forever, even after your passing.
