Everyone agrees that puppies are the most adorable baby animals in the world. It is what motivates many individuals to adopt them. However, some individuals do not like imperfect pups.

A breeder gave up on a bulldog named Bueller due to his inability to walk. Because the breeder was unable to sell Bueller due to his disability, it was decided not to take on the big responsibility of caring for a crippled dog. The breeder surrendered Bueller to the Sacramento Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).

When the SPCA saw Bueller, the veterinarian expressed concern for the small dog. They saw that the difficulties with Bueller’s legs prohibited him from walking. They also saw that Bueller’s condition was caused by a congenital abnormality.

Breeders tend to discard puppies like Bueller. No one would be interested in purchasing disabled puppies, and they would be a financial burden for them. Instead of doing everything possible to provide these puppies with a healthy life and a shot at happiness, they abandon them at animal shelters where they usually are euthanized.

The SPCA personnel observed that Bueller was energetic and they knew that he wanted to live. Despite his condition, he still tries to play and move as much as possible, like most pups.

The Sacramento SPCA decided to help Bueller walk. The staff and volunteers began physical treatment to help him strengthen his legs. They began with water therapy in which a harness is placed on Bueller and he is lowered into a water basin.

Bueller would begin to walk in the water by utilizing his legs. And because his legs are not being forced down by his body weight, Bueller is able to correct their position.

The SPCA employees and volunteers would leash Bueller and urge him to walk. Bueller is so determined to learn how to walk that every day, he improved.

The day arrived when Bueller was able to support his weight on his feet, and he was even able to get up using only his back legs. When Bueller took his first steps, the whole SPCA staff and volunteers shed tears. They understood that the crippled puppy finally has a chance to live a normal life.

Bueller’s tale was shown in the local news, where a couple who had recently lost a loving dog watched him. Lindsay and Alex decided to call the SPCA in order to adopt Bueller and give him a wonderful life.
