Dianne Ramsey, a 71-year-old woman, living in New Orleans, was crushed when she discovered that her long-time pet was missing. Although the senior pooch was returned home safely after four days, it felt like forever to her.

The elderly lady had vascular dementia, and her 15-year-old Yorkie named Sasha helped her live with the condition. The pet was her source of happiness and constant companion. It pained her to be apart from her beloved pooch.

Taken from the porch

One day, Dianne’s daughter let Sasha out of the house so that she could do her business. After she was done, they knew that she would run around a bit and then come back to their porch. She would start clawing at their door so that she could be let in. The old dog never ran away.

Sasha was very loyal and never ventured far away from her owner.

But on that day, the dog never returned. When they realized that Sasha was taking a long time to come back, they went out, and she was nowhere to be found. They checked their doorbell camera and were shocked by what they saw.

A woman went to their porch and lured the small pooch with treats. The lady then picked her up and brought Sasha inside her car. They then drove away. Dianne was heartbroken. Her daughter helped her create flyers and look for help through social media.

A misunderstanding

As it turned out, the woman who took Sasha thought she was a stray. She brought the dog to the local shelter. She told the staff that the dog was shivering on the porch. The senior Yorkie also had no tags or a microchip. Thankfully, after four days, one of the shelter employees saw the missing dog’s flyer and got in touch with Dianne.

And that’s not all they did. The shelter gave the dog a microchip and an identification tag. They also had her ear infection treated by a vet, all for free. Dianne was very grateful and overjoyed to have her pet back.
