Chico, a Texas German shepherd, got lost on February 11 and reported himself missing to the local police station. In the middle of the night, the wise dog sauntered into the Odessa Police Department and set his paws on the reception desk. Chico had a gut feeling that the cops would assist him.

The German shepherd seemed peaceful when he entered the station, according to Sergeant Rusty Martin of the Odessa Police Department. Chico appeared to be enjoying his outing and his “missing” status.

All of the officers were ecstatic to have Chico in their station. In the foyer, one cop played fetch with Chico after getting a tennis ball that they could play with.

The officers set out to find Chico’s owners after having some fun with him. However, the Odessa police ran into some difficulties. Chico wore a collar, but his identification tag was not in sight. Sergeant Martin then decided to contact the local animal control to get Chico’s microchip scanned.

Chico, though, decided that he had been absent for long enough from his home and returned to where he lived before animal control came. The dog exited the police station as quickly as he had entered. The authorities conducted a thorough search for Chico but were unable to find the German shepherd.

Sergeant Martin documented the incident on the Facebook page of the Odessa Police Department. Edward Alvarado, the owner of Chico, was informed of the Facebook post by his nephew.

The next day, Edward called the station to inform the officers that Chico had arrived safely at home. Chico, who is one year old, lives less than a mile from the police station.

Sergeant Martin expressed his admiration for Chico’s abilities. According to the officer, the dog might be great working as a cop. Chico is welcome return to the Odessa police station at any time.
