Sid is a white Canaan that has fared worse than most stray dogs. She was found in Forth Worth, Texas along with a small pup that seemed to be her own. Aside from being malnourished, the dog had a noticeably odd facial structure. And by the side of her head, she had a long scar.

The homeless pooch was brought to a vet for a check-up. There they learned that Sid could not move her facial muscles and the condition was caused by a traumatic injury. Someone hit the dog so hard that it caused paralysis. To top it off, she was deaf.

Incredible mom

Sid’s inability to control her muscles gave her a lopsided face. She had different expressions on each side of her snout, one of which was sloping down. The staff working at the Fort Worth Animal Care and Control knew that her condition would make it difficult to get her adopted. There is a good chance that the rest of her days would be spent on the shelter.

Amazingly, though, the rescue dog was not just sweet and friendly, but she was also a very doting mom to her puppy. Even though she could not hear the small pooch crying or calling out to her, she would always tend to her baby’s needs.

Looking for a family

Knowing full well that she won’t have much of a future in the shelter, one of the staff members got in touch with a nonprofit charity organization called Animal Hope Pet Adoptions. They agreed to take Sid and do whatever they can to help her get a new home.

The charity group has done various means to get her exposure. They hope that someday, someone will look past her appearance and see what a beautiful dog she really is.
