We don’t often get the chance to witness a true hero in action. But when we do, it’s just simply awe-inspiring. We usually see knights in cotton armor when there is a disaster or emergency.

Back in 2016, Baton Rouge suffered a deluge when heavy rains poured over the city.

Of course, severe flooding is no joke, so people are usually asked to evacuate to elevated areas in a city. But for an unknown reason, the woman in the video found herself in a helpless situation when her convertible was swept by the flood, and it started sinking.

Luckily for her, there was a group of men riding a boat who saw the misfortune that befell the elderly woman. A young man named David Phung, leaped into action to save the woman, whose car’s roof was closed. She was trapped, and she was sinking along with her vehicle.

David was able to pull her out, thanks to his quick thinking. But as soon as the woman was able to gasp for air, she belted, “Get my dog!” It turned out that she was traveling with her dog, and the poor pooch was still trapped inside. The woman started to panic as she urged David to save her pup.

One onlooker feared for the worst. He suggested that the dog is gone, to which the woman replied, “No, she better not be!” But despite others losing hope, there was David who never stopped prying the car door. He was determined not to lose that pup. At least not on his watch.

The water was murky, too, and that made it next to impossible to rescue the pooch from the sinking vehicle. David took one last dive, and after a few seconds, he came back up. He then said, “I got your dog.” Everyone was relieved! Even us who are watching the video four years later. Check out David’s heroics in the clip below.
